How Do I Get Started?
To get started with the Center for Surgical Weight Loss, you will need to do the following:
- Attend a free education seminar. During the seminar, you will learn about bariatric surgery, the procedures offered, the benefits and risks of surgery, what makes a good surgical candidate, and what you can expect through each stage of your weight loss journey. You can register for one of our upcoming seminars on-line, or call us at (267) 330-0760.
- Determine if your insurance covers bariatric surgery. Medical insurance coverage for weight-loss surgery varies by insurance carrier. You can check with your insurance carrier to determine if you have the benefit , or the Center for Surgical Weight Loss program team can communicate with your insurance company for you. Unfortunately, some insurance companies exclude bariatric surgery as a covered benefit. In the event that your insurance plan does not cover weight loss surgery, feel free to contact us, at (267) 330-0168, for cash pay options:
- Complete a Bariatric Initial History Assessment. This document is essential to the evaluation process, and must be completed in its entirety and brought with you to your initial consultation with the surgeon.
- Consultation with one of our surgeons. You will meet one-on-one with the surgeon. During this initial consultation, you should be prepared to discuss your medical and surgical histories, diet history, medications you are currently taking, previous attempts to lose weight and your understanding of bariatric surgery.
If following your evaluation it is decided that you are a candidate for surgery, you will begin the pre-operative preparation process.
