Michael P. Halter, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer
Michael P. Halter has served as chief executive officer for Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia since March 1999.
Before joining Hahnemann, Halter served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Lifespan in Providence, Rhode Island, where he successfully integrated three facilities within the system into a single management structure called Academic Medical Center of Brown University School of Medicine. Prior to that tour, he was senior vice president and chief operating officer of Rhode Island Hospital. Halter also served as chief executive officer and senior vice president of health affairs at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Halter received his bachelor’s degree in 1973 from Ohio State University and his master’s degree from Tulane University in 1989.
Halter is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Pennsylvania Society. Additionally, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Delaware Valley Health Care Council and previously served as the Chairman of the Board for the Philadelphia American Heart Association and as Vice Chair of the Avenue of the Arts Inc. Halter also served on the Philadelphia Health and Education Corporation Drexel University College of Medicine’s Board of Trustees.
James B. Burke, FACHE
Chief Operating Officer
James Burke has over 30 years of health care leadership experience, with success in developing and implementing operations improvement strategies and in working with key physicians and other stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cost reduction projects.
Before joining Hahnemann in November 2004, Burke held the position of vice president of operations for the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania for 10 years. From 1986 to 1994, he held administrative positions at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Burke received his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and his Master of Business Administration from Drexel University in 1984.
A Fellow of both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society, Burke also serves on the board for directors of the Wescott Steel Company, Inc. Additionally, Burke is President of the Sons of Revolution of Pennsylvania and past president of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Jersey. He also has served on the Board of Cetronia Ambulance Corps and Head Start of the Lehigh Valley.
From March 2008 to March 2011, Burke served on the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives, which serves as the vital link between ACHE and its affiliates in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Chief Financial Officer
Rich Imbimbo has over 30 years of health care finance experience in both hospital operations and consulting.
He has worked with community hospitals, academic medical centers, home care agencies, physician practices and insurance carriers. Prior to joining Tenet as the CFO of Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Imbimbo was the CFO at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland. He has been the CFO at York Memorial Hospital (York, Pennsylvania), Sibley Memorial Hospital (D.C.) and the AVP at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. His consulting experience includes Reimbursement Manager at Coopers and Lybrand, and Regional Director for the DC/Baltimore office of McBee Associates.
Imbimbo holds a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University, a Master of Social Work degree (with a specialty in medical social work) from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Northwestern University. He is also licensed in Pennsylvania as a Certified Public Accountant, and an active leader in both local and national Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Rosemary Dunn, Dr.N.P., M.B.A., R.N.
Chief Nursing Officer
Rosemary Dunn has served as the chief nursing officer for Hahnemann University Hospital since June 2012.
In her role as chief nursing officer, Dunn provides operational management and oversight for nursing. Previously, Dunn held the positions of senior director of Nursing Services (2004–2012) and director of Cardiothoracic Critical Care Service (1997–2004) at Hahnemann.
In addition to her 15 years in nursing leadership and management, Dunn has more than 20 years of experience as a nurse clinician in various capacities, including emergency medicine, oncology, medical-surgical, cardiology telemetry and cardiothoracic surgery.
Among her many management accomplishments is the instrumental role she played in Hahnemann attaining Magnet designation in 2009. Dunn not only spearheaded Hahnemann’s Magnet journey, she was also the lead author of the nearly 4,000-page report to the American Credentialing Center.
Dunn earned a doctorate of Nursing Practice from Drexel University in 2011. Additionally, she holds a Master of Business Administration from Rosemont College, a master’s degree in Nursing Leadership from Hahnemann University, a post-masters certificate as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Allegheny University of the Health Sciences (now Drexel University) and bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Gwynedd-Mercy College.
George Amrom, MD
Chief Medical Officer
George Amrom, M.D., has served as chief medical officer for Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia since March 1997.
In addition to providing oversight of the Hahnemann medical staff, Dr. Amrom is responsible for providing oversight and management of the Performance Improvement, Risk Management and Medical Staff Office.
Dr. Amrom joined the Hahnemann University Hospital medical staff in 1977 and was in private practice with the former chairman of surgery until 1997, at which time he became employed by Drexel University College of Medicine. He has served twice as acting chairman of the Department of Surgery (December 1998–February 2001 and October 2010–December 2011.)
In addition to his role as CMO for Hahnemann, Dr. Amrom also currently serves as vice chairman of the Department of Surgery for Drexel University College of Medicine and chief quality officer for Drexel University Physicians. Dr. Amrom also maintains a vibrant clinical practice in general and vascular surgery.
Dr. Amrom received his bachelor’s degree in 1968 from Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio, and his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College & Hospital in 1972. He completed his general surgical residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in 1977. Dr. Amrom completed his surgical oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Amrom is a Fellow of the American College Surgeons, and a member of the American College of Surgeons Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter, the Delaware Valley Vascular society, Eastern Vascular Society, the Samuel Hahnemann Surgical Society and the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery.
Chief Business Development Officer
Robert G. Pavlich has served as chief business development officer for Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia since July 2007.
In this role, Pavlich is responsible for business development, marketing and communications and the physician relationship program as well as the recruitment of physicians to the Hahnemann Practice Plan.
Prior to Hahnemann, Pavlich worked within the Tenet Health System in Philadelphia as the regional director for Strategy and Business Development. In this position, he was responsible for assisting the region’s eight hospitals in developing appropriate business plans and strategic initiatives.
Before joining Tenet, Pavlich was regional vice president at Allegheny Health Education & Research Foundation, vice president of Corporate Planning at United Hospitals and planning manager at the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pavlich received his bachelor’s degree in 1972 from West Virginia University and continued his education there to receive his masters of public administration degree in 1973.
Ayanna Weber, Esq.
Chief Human Resources Officer
It’s rare to find the perfect mix of passion and experience. With 17 years in human resources and legal consulting, Ayanna C. Weber, Chief Human Resources Officer for Hahnemann University Hospital, is one of those executives. With expertise in executive coaching and strategic planning, Weber provides senior-level guidance in human resources operations, leader development and employee relations.
Weber has worked with Tenet Healthcare for the past seven years, and was previously Director of HR Operations at the Detroit Medical Center before relocating to Philadelphia. Weber has experience in both the boardroom and courtroom. For 10 years, she practiced as a litigation attorney in employment law, professional liability and general liability.
Weber has served as Corporation Counsel for a nonprofit and as a labor relations consultant, where she successfully represented businesses as lead union contract negotiator. In 2006, she earned a real estate license. As a youth advocate, Weber served as Attorney Ad Litem for a Children’s Right Clinic and volunteered at Catholic Charities and the Detroit Urban League.
