Catheterization offers patients the most precise diagnosis for many heart conditions coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure and certain congenital heart conditions.
Hahnemann Cardiology's Catheterization Program offers conventional coronary angioplasty and stenting, along with alternative treatments to patients who have congenital heart anomalies, such as patent foramen ovale (PFO) or atrial septal defects (ASD). Cardiac plug devices are heart patches used for patients with these conditions, who would otherwise require either open-heart surgery or long-term treatment on a blood-thinning medication. The Catheterization Program is also experienced in performing thoracic and abdominal aorta repair utilizing a minimally invasive technique called endovascular. Repair to the aorta can be done without a large incision enabling a much shorter recovery period.
Hahnemann University Hospital’s cardiac cath lab allows for advanced diagnostic cardiovascular studies to be performed on a patient. The lab facilitates traditional cardiovascular interventional procedures, as well as advanced treatments for structural heart disease. The cath lab provides advanced integrated imaging, including 3-D angiography and intravascular ultrasound, for patients with cardiovascular disease.
