Rob Delvecchio, BSN, RN, 19 NT, Receives Hahnemann University Hospital's August 2018 DAISY Award

Rob Delvecchio, BSN, RN, 19 NT, was recognized as Hahnemann University Hospital's August 2018 DAISY Award recipient. Rob was nominated for his professional insight and ongoing support of a patient and their family.

A patient’s family member nominated Rob for the DAISRob Delvecchio.jpgY Award. They shared this as their reason for their nomination:

“During the patient’s stay, Rob took the time to listen to the concerns of the patient and the family making sure that their experience was successful. One day, the patient was showing signs of hypovolemia and bleeding. Rob acted on the patient’s behalf to explain to the team of physicians what was going on. His quick actions led to a great learning opportunity for the residents and med students. Without Rob’s keen assessment skills and advocacy for the patient, the patient’s outcome could have been completely different. Rob ensured the patient and their family they had the necessary resources for excellent care.”

Hahnemann University Hospital selects a nurse every two months to receive the DAISY Award. During an awards ceremony, the recipient is presented with a sculpture called “A Healer’s Touch.” The piece is hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.

DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. The care Patrick and his family received while he was ill inspired them to create the DAISY Awards as a way to recognize and thank nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of patients and their families.
