Brienne Definis, RN, 19NT, Receives Hahnemann University Hospital's Third Quarter 2017 DAISY Award

Brienne Definis.jpgBrienne Definis, RN, 19NT, was recognized as Hahnemann University Hospital's third quarter 2017 DAISY Award recipient. Brienne was nominated for her positive and optimistic attitude, as well as her continued support and encouragement of the patient.

A patient’s wife nominated Brienne for the DAISY Award, and shared this as their reason for her selection:

“Brienne brought a positive and optimistic attitude that was imperative to my husband’s recovery. Brienne went above and beyond what was necessary to encourage him and support the family during his recovery. She really got to know his triggers, his favorite foods, and a whole lot more. Brienne ensured he had everything he needed to ensure he had a successful recovery at home. Her warmth will carry us forward on the journey to recovery.”

Hahnemann University Hospital selects a nurse every quarter to receive the DAISY Award. During an awards ceremony, the recipient is presented with a sculpture called “A Healer’s Touch.” The piece is hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.

DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. The care Patrick and his family received while he was ill inspired them to create the DAISY Awards as a way to recognize and thank nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of patients and their families.
