Hahnemann University Hospital's Center for Surgical Weight Loss was recently designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
According to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Blue Distinction Centers and Blue Distinction Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery provide a full range of bariatric surgery care; including surgical care, post-operative care, outpatient follow-up care and patient education. These Centers have lower complication rates and fewer readmissions. The designation recognizes healthcare providers for delivering quality specialty care – safely, efficiently and cost-effectively. It demonstrates that Hahnemann’s Bariatric Surgery Program has met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes.
This is the team’s second national designation, having achieved the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) accreditation in 2015.
