Dermatologists affiliated with Hahnemann treat a variety of skin conditions at two locations in Philadelphia.

Dermatology is the specialty of medicine that diagnose and treats conditions of the skin, hair, and nails. Hahnemann's affiliated specilaists in the field of dermatology treat common ailments such as athlete's foot and acne, as well as complicated cases of melanoma (skin cancer).

Dermatologists also do cosmetic procedures for general care of the skin or to enhance appearance.

The Department of Dermatology treats routine dermatologic problems and also specializes in cutaneous t-cell lymphoma, phototherapy, dermatopathology and Mohs surgery.

  • Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) - is a rare type of lymphocytic cancer in which certain cells of the lymphatic system, called T-lymphocytes or T-cells, become cancerous (malignant) and affect the skin.
  • Phototherapy - a treatment done by exposing the skin to ultraviolet light on a consistent basis and under medical supervision. Therapies are done in a doctor’s office, and are commonly used to treat psoriasis.
  • Dermatopathology - a consultative service forthe referring dermatologist. Dermatopathologists interpret microscopic biopsies in order to plan aproprate treatment regimen for patients.
  • Mohs Surgery -  a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat dermatologic malignancies (skin cancers) and may allow for less damage to nearby healthy skin. Mohs surgery can be done anywhere on the body, but is commonly used for skin cancers on the eyelids, nose, lips, and any sensitive location on the body that would have a higher risk of complications with regular surgical excision
