PHILADELPHIA (October 13, 2010) -- Hahnemann University Hospital hosted an open house today at 2424 E. York Street (2424 Studios) to mark the opening of the new University Primary Care office at that location. Drs. Nina Cheung, Michael VanScoy, and office staff greeted community members, provided tours and answered questions about the new office and Hahnemann University Hospital.
“We are excited to join the Fishtown community as well as the surrounding neighborhoods. We believe we can add much needed services to this vibrant and expanding neighborhood located so close to our hospital and look forward to playing a roll in the community,” stated Jeff Ryan, chief operating officer of Hahnemann Physician Practice Plan, “Our office offers convenient care close to home with the benefit of the expertise and resources of Hahnemann University Hospital and its physicians.”
Dr. Cheung received all of her medical training and education in Philadelphia. A graduate of Holy Redeemer School in Chinatown, Dr. Cheung received a bachelor’s of science in Biology from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Cheung completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital.
Dr. VanScoy came to Hahnemann after completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital. Dr. VanScoy received his Medical Degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Villanova University.
In addition to the presence of primary care physicians, specialists in cardiology, urology, podiatry and other sub-specialty areas of need will be joining the facility. Hahnemann University Hospital is also planning a shuttle van that can take patients from the 2424 Studios to the hospital for any testing or appointments on the hospital campus.
