Women Get Special Attention at Hahnemann

Gynecologic Care

An annual pelvic examinations, including pap smear and breast exam, is important to women of all ages and are offered as part of routine gynecologic care. In addition, the following services are available:

·         Follow-up care for abnormal pap smears, including colposcopy and cryotherapy

·         Evaluation for menstrual or other hormonal problems

·         Infertility evaluation and counseling

Family Planning Services

For women using or considering contraceptive methods (birth control), specialized family planning services are available. We provide family planning services and counseling for teens and adults. Services are confidential.

Family planning services include:

·         Birth control methods, including sterilization

·         Pregnancy testing and options counseling

·         Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases

Prenatal Care

The obstetrics program offers well-rounded prenatal care to pregnant women. Our goal is to help you have a healthy baby. The team of obstetricians, nurses and counselors work with you so that you can make important choices about your health and nutrition. The staff includes an obstetrician specializing in high-risk pregnancies. The following services may be provided at no charge for women who qualify under a state-funded program:

·         Prenatal visits with a clinician, including special care for high-risk pregnancies

·         Care coordination by a registered nurse

·         Social work services

·         Nutrition counseling

·         On-site WIC office (Women, Infant and Children food supplemental program)

·         Childbirth classes

Care at Home

The Home Visitation Referral program provides services to our clients at home. The staff includes  home visitors, a registered nurse and social worker. The visits include health education, parenting topics, infant growth and development, a mother/infant postpartum assessment and referrals to social service agencies. Mothers remain in the program until their infant is 1-year-old.
