Hahnemann offers competitive GME
programs with its academic affiliate
Drexel University College of Medicine.
The Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs at Hahnemann University Hospital are offered with our academic affiliate Drexel University College of Medicine. All house staff members (interns, resident and fellows) are employees of Hahnemann University Hospital.  In turn, Hahnemann provides the clinical resources to Drexel University College of Medicine to oversee the educational components of graduate medical education.  The GME programs offered by Hahnemann University Hospital and Drexel University College of Medicine seek to provide quality education and service in both an academic and clinical setting.  Hahnemann University Hospital and Drexel University College of Medicine train house staff to be clinicians who are prepared to pass their Boards and provide compassionate care to their patients.

Hahnemann University Hospital serves as a referral center for heart disease, cancer, trauma and other specialty areas. The facility has 540 licensed beds and is located in Center City Philadelphia. Hahnemann annually admits over 17,000 inpatients, treats almost 100,000 outpatients and sees more than 36,000 visitors in its Emergency Department.

The Hospital’s role as a tertiary care institution is reflected in the large percentage of beds dedicated to intensive care.  It offers intensive activity in cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, orthopaedic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, bone marrow transplantation, liver transplantation, renal dialysis and kidney/pancreas transplantation.
