Located at one of the busiest intersections in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, Hahnemann provides emergency services for the greater Philadelphia region. It is one of the major receiving sites for police and fire rescue patients, and services a large number of walk-in patients from the general population.
Hahnemann's strength is in caring for the seriously ill patient. The emergency center is staffed exclusively by board certified, emergency medicine, residency trained emergency physicians.
In 1986, the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation accredited Hahnemann to serve as the Philadelphia region's first Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center. The capabilities of the Trauma Center include specialized emergency resuscitation and diagnostic, surgical, and critical care services organized for immediate response to provide care and treatment for seriously injured patients.
Hahnemann is served by MidAtlantic MedEvac, a regional air medical transport service providing high quality emergency transport for patients requiring the services of the Trauma Center or other specialized tertiary care services available at Hahnemann.
