Hahnemann COO James Burke Elected to the American College of Healthcare Executives Council of Regents
 
 
James Burke, FACHE 
 

PHILADELPHIA, November 28, 2007 – James Burke, FACHE, chief operating officer, Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives, which serves as the vital link between ACHE and affiliates by approving governance and membership regulations as well as promoting ACHE programs, services and activities within their respective areas.  

Burke will take office at the Council of Regents meeting March 8, 2008, during ACHE’s 51st Congress on Healthcare Leadership at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. As a Regent, Burke will represent ACHE’s membership in Pennsylvania.  

Mr. Burke has over 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, with success in developing and implementing operations improvement strategies, and in working with key physicians and other stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cost reduction projects.   

Before joining Tenet in November 2004, Mr. Burke held the position of vice president of operations for the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania for 10 years.  From 1986 to 1994, he directed program and operations analysis for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  

Mr. Burke received his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and his master of business administration from Drexel University in 1984.  

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Mr. Burke is also a Fellow of the Healthcare and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Mr. Burke is active in many civic and historic organizations in the Philadelphia area.
