Dedicated to Cancer Treatment
In addition to a skilled care unit for radiation and chemotherapy treatments, a specialized unit for bone marrow transplants and immunosupressed patients is available.
This Controlled Environment Oncology Unit (CEOU) is comprised of 12 laminar air flow rooms.
Bone marrow transplant is a treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplasia, and selected breast cancer patients. "Mini-transplants" with abbreviated conditioning regimens are available for older patients with blood malignancies.
What’s more, the Hahnemann Transplant Program has a graft engineering program available of transplant recipients. Hahnemann offers four types of transplant: autologous, allogeneic, matched unrelated and a peripheral stem cell program.
Educational sessions prior to transplant for patient and family are a key part of the BMT program, and treatment and care delivery is driven by current protocols.
