PHILADELPHIA (March 20, 2008) – MidAtlantic MedEvac, formally University MedEvac, is the new operating name for the emergency air medical transportation service affiliated with Hahnemann University Hospital. The name change, effective as of March 14, 2008, comes as a result of the cessation of operation of University MedEvac which was a joint venture between Hahnemann University Hospital and the Lehigh Valley Hospital.   

The name change will not affect the service’s day to day operations. MidAtlantic MedEvac continues to provide the same safe, dependable air medical transportation it has provided to the region since 1987.   

The service operated the first helicopter air medical helicopter in the Philadelphia area.  MidAtlantic MedEvac currently operates Eurocopter and Sikorsky helicopters from three locations in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.  Our services include operations directly from the scene of injury and emergent inter-hospital transports.  The MidAtlantic MedEvac service area includes eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and northeastern Maryland.
