Hahnemann Orthopedic Surgeons Peter DeLuca and Paul Marchetto Named Team Physicians

 PHILADELPHIA (June 19, 2003) - Tenet Pennsylvania announced today that Peter DeLuca, M.D. and Paul Marchetto, M.D., orthopedic surgeons at Hahnemann University Hospital, have been named the official team physicians for the Philadelphia Eagles.

            Dr. DeLuca, recruited to Hahnemann in late 2002 and now in his 7th season with the Eagles, specializes in sports-related injuries and practices at Hahnemann, Hahnemann’s Sports Medicine Center in Marlton, NJ, as well as the Orthopedic Institute at Warminster Hospital.  He is an associate professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine.

As head team physician, Dr. DeLuca oversees the team’s physician staff and medical care.  He is also the team orthopedics surgeon for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia Phantoms.

            Dr. DeLuca is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Sports Medicine and the North American Arthroscopy Association. After earning his medical degree at Georgetown University he underwent a residency in orthopedics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and a fellowship in sports medicine at Yale University Hospital.

       Dr. Marchetto, who has been on staff at HUH since February 2001, is the director of the Hahnemann Sports Medicine Center and associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine.  Dr. Marchetto will assist Dr. DeLuca in providing medical care to the Eagles.  He also serves as the head team physician for Drexel University and assistant team orthopedist for the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Phantoms, as well as the team physician and consultant for several high school and amateur athletic organizations.  Dr. Marchetto specializes in sports medicine, knee and shoulder surgery and practices at Hahnemann and Hahnemann’s Sports Medicine Center in Marlton, NJ.

            Dr. Marchetto completed his orthopedic residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and his fellowship in sports medicine at Temple University Hospital.  He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Sports Medicine.

LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD: Set to open in August 2003, Lincoln Financial Field - with a capacity of 68,300 seats and 172 luxury suites - is a state-of the-art facility destined to become the premier sports and entertainment venue in the United States.  Construction of the stadium began in June 2001.  Although financed by a public/private partnership, the Philadelphia Eagles ownership, through its contribution of $350 million, will be contributing the bulk of the financing.
