PHILADELPHIA -- Hahnemann University Hospital and NBC10 launched phase two of the successful web-based Rate Your Risk health awareness campaign in September with Rate Your Cancer Risk, designed to promote cancer prevention and early diagnosis using a cancer risk assessment tool.
Focusing on colorectal, breast, and gynecologic cancers, the three month campaign will include public service announcements on NBC10 and guest appearances on the “10!” weekday morning television show featuring Hahnemann doctors, links to the Rate Your Cancer Risk assessment survey on the NBC10 website, print ads in the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Magazine, ads on KYW News and WOGL radio, and a cancer education seminar hosted by Hahnemann in October.
Cancer specialists from the departments of Surgery, Medicine, and Radiation Oncology including Drs. Ari Brooks, Pamela Crilley, Lesley Hughes, Lydia Komarnicky, and David Stein will participate in the multi-media campaign to promote Rate Your Cancer Risk, and the services provided at Hahnemann.
“Individuals may be at increased risk for developing cancer because of age, family history, or lifestyle and are not aware of it,” says Lydia Komarnicky, Chief of Radiation Oncology at Hahnemann. “I am thrilled that Hahnemann is taking an active step in promoting cancer risk awareness.”
In June, Hahnemann partnered with NBC10 to introduce the Rate Your Risk health awareness campaign with Rate Your Cardiac Risk, designed to educate people about their level of risk for developing heart disease. To date, more than 500 people have visited the Hahnemann website and took the cardiac risk assessment. |
